With the support of the Andrei Andreyev Charitable Foundation, an exhibition of paintings by Petersburg artist Roman Lyapin will be held from September 18 to October 12, 2015 at the Sochi Art Museum. In addition to the well-known works of past years, the audience will be presented with completely new works of the author.
Roman Lyapin is a modern painter, a member of the Union of Artists of St. Petersburg, a multiple winner of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree awards of the regular competitions of Tuscany and Lazio (Italy), the Grand Prix nominee at the "Landscape" competition in Archinazzo - Romano 1996 of the year. The main goal of this exposition is to show the best works of different periods and introduce the viewer to new works. The painter began his career in Leningrad at the Lvov Art School. IN AND. Mukhina. While still a student, in the early 1990s, Roman Lyapin, at the invitation of an Italian collector, moved to Rome, a city whose art has been a model in the history of world art culture for centuries. This meeting became crucial in the subsequent artistic career of Roman Lyapin. 1999 - 2007 were a time of productive teaching at the Roman Academy of Arts (Accademia di Belle Art di Roma). After returning to St. Petersburg, the artist continues the series of works begun by him and creates new magnificent paintings.
The city in the landscapes of the painter acts as a complex multicomponent system, where nature merges with architectural structures and the vault of heaven, and it is the sky that is the main tuning fork of the works. The topographic clarity in Roman Lyapin’s landscapes is often replaced by the schematic of previously seen landscapes. A modern interpretation of architectural Vedut makes his paintings unique and innovative.
Interest in the winter landscape is becoming new. Sometimes in his works color planes and energetic touches, a complex figurative series form abstract spaces. From sketches to monumental compositions, paintings by Roman Lyapin are imbued with the spirit of deep inner unity - this is an expressive, light, energetic painting, painted with a firm hand. The canons of the Russian realistic school, laid down by the artist at a young age, incline the viewer to rethink and recall the works of Jean Honore Fragonard and William Turner. His work was influenced by the modern Italian school of painting. The masterly mastery of light and color in the paintings enhances the emotional and romantic mood, allows you to see landscapes from an unexpected angle. Adoration of the classical culture, the ability to combine the modern life of the city and its historical past, to reveal the abstract component, to convey the minute-by-minute state of the environment, its romantic beginning are important aspects of all the master’s paintings.
The originality of the concept of painting by Roman Lyapin is fully expressed by the words of the author himself: "As if I am flying over the city and looking at it from above, capturing this visible beauty…".
The exhibition will feature about 50 works of painting and graphics. The artist’s works are in private collections in Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Taiwan, Japan, America, Russia and other countries.
