Igor Dryomin: "Poems about love." Exhibition of works by Charlie (Verona) Automatic translate
Charlie was born on April 22, 1952 in Legnago, province of Verona. In 1974, a self-taught artist, at the age of more than twenty, holds the first solo exhibition in Italy. In subsequent years, exhibitions of his works are held in Rome, Paris, Edinburgh, Prague, Monte Carlo, Bratislava and many other countries. The artist himself becomes a participant and laureate of prestigious national and international art competitions and even receives the Golden Lion Prize for his painting “On the Stone” in Venice.
Despite the fact that Charlie clearly understands the importance of basic academic education, he prefers not to copy the manner of the old masters, but to look for his own artistic style. The artist conditionally divides his work into three periods: “experimental” - until 1994, “dreamy” - from 1995 to 2006, and “philosophical” - from 2007.
It was at the beginning of the 90s that the author’s aesthetics was finally formed, the “search period” ended, and a style was formed that was characteristic of all his subsequent work. The master’s works become less realistic, he seeks to reveal the dynamics of the visible and invisible, to emphasize the transcendence of the artistic image.
Filippe Daverio, a journalist and art critic, says of Charlie’s work: “His artistic language is well recognized: a game of splashes, signs and color spots of pure matter, which holds and proclaims its right to unpredictability, expressing itself in small flashes - explosions, which appear when transferred to canvas. From this moment begins the magical work of the master. It is visible in the embodiment of the effect that he consciously creates. Of course, he does not build the composition according to mathematical laws and, it seems, robs her of internal logic, using his creative method to identify transformed matter. ”
In the late 90’s, the master suspends his experiments with painting on canvas and draws attention to other types of fine art: engraving, inlay, sculpture and others. One of the artist’s first experiments is a 36 square-meter ceiling painting. meters - an allegorical composition "Legend of an ancient tower." Then he develops and implements a large-scale project of floor marble mosaics on a mythological sea theme in his house in Bonavichina, which he has been working on until 2014. Also in his house appears "Hall of Arts", the frescoes and murals of which are performed by the artist himself. Over time, a permanent exhibition of the author’s paintings is also located there. Thus, Charlie’s house is gradually turning into a kind of museum, and is becoming a popular place for visiting by Italian and foreign art lovers.
A few years ago, the anthological exhibition “Poems of Love” was successfully held at the Palazzo Gran Guard in Verona, and will now be presented in Moscow at the MVK PAK Art Gallery Zurab Tsereteli (Prechistenka, 19), which will give the Russian audience a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Italian artist Charlie
