Жаль что сейчас таких уже не строят. А ведь неплохая идея
Peter, as always, takes a standard plot and depicts his attitude towards it, which is far from a slavish illustration of the original source. Here he shows:
1. The Tower is a symbol of humanity united in harmony with nature, building itself. The tower rests on a rock that passes through it. Thus, humanity is one with the earth on which it works and builds itself, and also lives in the Tower. The Tower (united humanity) is extremely beautiful. Those who doubt its beauty should see the original in Venice.
2. The biblical God destroyed this harmony by dividing united humanity into parts with different languages. As a result of the division of languages, people began to misunderstand each other, leading to various troubles, such as wars, which stem partly from the concept of us versus them.
3. Humanity does not need power. We notice that the symbol of united humanity – the Tower – is being built without any leadership; no leader is visible anywhere. There are also no armed people on the Tower. Humanity does not need all this. Armed people surround only power. Only it needs violence, and it exists only through violence. Conclusions: the biblical God and power are enemies of humanity. This is the essence of this beautiful work.

The painting depicts a colossal, unfinished tower, representing the Tower of Babel. The tower is built on a rocky base and is a complex structure with numerous stories, arches, and scaffolding, indicating ongoing construction. Many tiny figures of laborers are visible, engaged in various tasks of building and hauling materials. The lower left foreground shows a group of people, possibly including a central figure in white, observing the construction. The tower itself is a mix of different architectural styles and materials, with some sections appearing more completed than others. In the background, a sprawling city and a body of water with ships are visible, suggesting the tower is situated in a populated area.
The subtexts of the painting are deeply rooted in the biblical story of the Tower of Babel, which narrates humanitys attempt to build a tower reaching heaven, ultimately thwarted by God who confused their languages, leading to the dispersion of people across Earth.
