Behind this group, the scene transitions into a more expansive architectural space. A series of arches, supported by classical columns, create a receding perspective that leads the eye towards a distant seascape. The architecture itself is rendered with an emphasis on linear precision and geometric harmony, characteristic of Renaissance design principles. Within these arched openings, glimpses of figures can be discerned – individuals seemingly engaged in maritime activities aboard a ship visible on the waters surface.
The lower portion of the composition introduces two small, nude figures – putti – playing with what appears to be a dog. Their presence injects an element of playful innocence and earthly delight into the otherwise solemn atmosphere. The putti are positioned at the very front of the scene, creating a sense of immediacy and drawing attention to their interaction.
The color palette is dominated by deep blues and browns in the foreground, contrasting with the lighter tones used for the architectural elements and seascape in the background.
