Within the interior space, several men are arranged around a central figure who is partially unclothed and undergoing some form of punishment or ordeal. A man wielding an object that could be interpreted as a whip stands poised above him. Other individuals observe this event from various positions – one seated on a raised platform, another standing near a column, and others further back in the space. The architecture itself is rendered with meticulous detail; classical columns support a series of arches, creating a sense of depth and grandeur. A statue atop a pillar adds to the impression of an established order or institution overseeing the proceedings.
The figures on the right side are dressed in garments indicative of their time – rich fabrics and elaborate detailing suggest status and wealth.
