The artist employed a perspective that is simultaneously flattened and distorted. Spatial depth is suggested through overlapping forms and variations in color intensity, but traditional vanishing points are absent. This creates a sense of compression, as if the viewer is immersed within the scene rather than observing it from afar. The trees themselves appear to be constructed from angular planes, their trunks and branches twisting into abstract shapes that echo the fragmented forms of the animals.
The color scheme is dominated by greens, yellows, and browns, but these are punctuated by flashes of red, orange, and blue. These colors do not function realistically; instead, they contribute to an overall feeling of heightened emotional intensity. The light source appears diffuse and inconsistent, casting shadows that further complicate the perception of form and space.
Subtly, a sense of unease permeates the work. While ostensibly depicting a tranquil rural setting, the disjointed composition and unnatural coloration suggest something beyond simple representation. The animals appear almost spectral, their forms dissolving into the landscape as if they are not entirely present in this reality. This could be interpreted as an exploration of themes such as memory, loss, or the fragility of nature.
The overall effect is one of dreamlike disorientation, where the boundaries between the natural and the artificial become blurred. The painting seems to evoke a primal connection with the land while simultaneously questioning the stability of perception itself.
