Along the left bank, a dense cluster of trees rises vertically, their forms delineated with precise lines and varying degrees of shading to suggest depth and texture. A low fence or barrier runs parallel to the rivers edge, separating the water from a small area containing what appears to be a rudimentary structure – perhaps a shed or shelter – and several figures discernible only as dark shapes.
