Flanking the central panel are two additional panels, each containing a separate figure within similarly gilded frames. On the left, we see a female saint dressed in flowing white robes, holding what appears to be a scroll or book. To the right is another figure, also a woman, clad in brown habit and seemingly engaged in prayer or contemplation. The figures are positioned against gold backgrounds, which flatten the pictorial space and direct attention towards their spiritual essence.
Above the central Madonna and Child panel sits an image of Christ crucified, again framed within gilded ornamentation. This placement reinforces the thematic link between the Virgin Mary’s role as mother and the sacrifice of her son.
