THE MAJESTY OF SNOW
The yard is dressed in the silent beauty of snow,
Chunks of ice lie like slices of fat.
January looks on – a gray-bearded old man -
Content – hes done quite a bit of work.
The yard resembles a miniature Finland,
Or perhaps a lush Arctic region.
The alley between the houses is like a corridor,
Seen through starry binoculars.
The snow is abundant and glistening – precious:
Not a single speck can disappear here.
And theres a small red-golden glow,
Orange hues intertwine in a complex dance.
A gentle creak of the paths adds to the scene,
A simple happiness – theres so much snow in the world.
You forget about all your old wounds, both physical and emotional,
And everything else... even a sense of duty…
You cannot comment Why?
The artist has employed a technique that emphasizes texture; the snow appears not as a uniform surface but as a complex arrangement of drifts, shadows, and subtle color variations. The rock faces are rendered with visible brushstrokes, suggesting their ruggedness and solidity. A small cluster of evergreen trees clings to the lower right side of the composition, offering a touch of organic warmth against the otherwise frigid scene.
The perspective is elevated, allowing for a panoramic view that conveys both the scale of the environment and the viewer’s distance from it. The dark framing along the top and sides of the canvas further isolates the landscape, intensifying its sense of remoteness and grandeur.
Subtly embedded within this depiction are implications about human insignificance in the face of natures power. The sheer size of the mountains and the vastness of the glacier dwarf any potential human presence, suggesting a humbling encounter with an indifferent natural world. There is a quiet melancholy present; it’s not merely a representation of beauty but also a contemplation on transience and the relentless forces that shape the earth. The absence of any signs of civilization reinforces this feeling of isolation and underscores the raw, untamed character of the depicted terrain.
