BROKEN DOLL
I am a broken doll,
Lying by the window.
My soul is swollen with sorrow,
The water of sorrow is black.
Someone once played with me,
Then they tormented me.
Everyone elses life was rich,
But not with kindness.
My clothes are torn,
And my mechanism is broken.
And all my hopes
Have been devoured by life.
Ah, the fate of a doll –
A voiceless monologue.
A childs cruel will
Determines my ending.
What do I see from the window?
Fleeting life –
Its painful to be outside of it:
No joys, no sorrows.
The future is uncertain,
The past simply doesnt exist.
Unevenly crawls towards the window,
Clumps of flickering light.
I am a broken doll,
Lying by the window.
And now I embody
Pure suffering.

To the right, seated on what appears to be a folded blanket or cushion, is another female figure. She is depicted with a more angular and fragmented form, her features conveying an expression of profound melancholy or distress. Her gaze is directed downwards, suggesting introspection or despair. The stark contrast in posture and emotional presentation between the two women immediately establishes a sense of disconnect and psychological tension.
The setting itself contributes to the overall atmosphere. A yellow wall forms the background, its flatness amplifying the feeling of enclosure. A corner of the room is sharply defined, creating an abrupt visual barrier that further isolates the figures. The limited color palette – primarily yellows, greens, and muted browns – reinforces the somber mood.
A small object resembling a clock rests on the blanket near the seated figure. Its presence introduces a sense of time passing, perhaps hinting at loss or regret. It could also be interpreted as a symbol of routine or the relentless march of events. The overall effect is one of quiet desperation and psychological fragmentation. The painting seems to explore themes of isolation, grief, and the complexities of human relationships within a context of unspoken trauma. The artist’s deliberate distortion of form and perspective serves not merely as an aesthetic choice but as a means of conveying emotional depth and psychological unease.
