The works of artist Peter Dick in the Stroganov Palace of the Russian Museum

In the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg on November 22 opens a personal exhibition of Peter Gergardovich Dick. The works of the national artist of Russia are shown in the Russian Museum for the second time, the first exhibition was held during the life of the artist, in 1977.

This year’s exhibition, called the Territory of Silence, presents about a hundred works written using the pastel technique. Most of the pastels were in the collection of the Russian Museum, the works of the artist from the collection of his family were added to them.

Peter Dick, a Russian artist with German roots, born in the Altai Territory, since 1973 lived and worked in the city of Vladimir. Living on Vladimir land gave the artist the opportunity to familiarize himself with ancient Russian art, which became a source of inspiration for him.

The exposition of the exhibition of the Russian Museum was composed of the artist’s works written by him in the last years of his life, which became the heyday of the master’s talent. In the work of Peter Dick there are works made in various genres, but the legacy of his last years has been paintings made in an unusual technique - they are written with charcoal and pastel on sandpaper

The artist’s works became his confession. The images of the heroes of his works are expressive, they contain bitterness and sadness caused by the lack of compassion for people in the world, problems of loneliness. They seem to freeze, listening to their soul yearning for ideals.

The specialization of Peter Dick while studying at Stroganovka was the artistic processing of metal. Among his large works are reliefs for the memorial to soldiers who died from wounds in Vladimir’s hospitals. However, health problems forced the artist to start working with graphics, which constituted the exposition of the exhibition, which can be visited until February 11th.
