The exhibition "The World of the Russian Village" awaits visitors to the Tropinin Museum

MOSCOW. On July 3, the Tropinin Museum opened the exhibition “The World of the Russian Village”, which will introduce you to the works of artists created in the 18-20th centuries. The theme of each of the works presented in the exposition is the world of the Russian peasantry, today preserved only on canvases.

Most of the paintings belong to the brush of Russian artists. The organizers of the exhibition decided to divide the paintings into sections. Each reveals a specific topic related to the life of peasants. In the first of them there are canvases in which the theme of the nobility echoes the peasant theme. These two classes lived at the same time, but their worlds practically did not intersect. However, to imagine their life separately is also impossible.

This part of the exposition presents rural landscapes and architectural views made by unknown artists. Here are watercolors depicting the estate of Count Razumovsky, located in the suburbs. Next to them is a picturesque portrait painted by the German artist Guttenbrunn. It depicts Prince Alexander Kurakin. It is painted against the backdrop of the Prince’s estate “Nadezhdino”, the beauty of which the owner was extremely proud of.

In the second section, devoted to weekdays and holidays of peasants, where the works of Russian artists are supplemented by two portraits of Russian beauties painted by French and Italian artists.

The third section is dedicated to peasant children. In the presented paintings, they appear before the audience not only helping adults, but also on vacation. The exposition of this section housed the work of famous artists. The names of their authors are Tropinin and Korovin, Arkhipov and Kamenev. The exhibition is complemented by household items and porcelain.

The exhibition is open until September 28th.
