At this time, the permanent expositions of the Pushkin Museum practically do not include canvases representing the work of the painters of these three schools.

Since the original building, where the museum is located, was designed and built as a training museum operating at the Imperial University, its creators did not count on replenishing its collection. Museum workers tried to increase its exhibition space, but could not find places for all paintings, which are monuments of Western European art.

Despite the highest artistic quality, the canvases of the masters presented at the opening exhibition were kept in storage. Only a small part of them were presented in the permanent exhibition of the Pushkin Museum.
