MOSCOW. Exhibition "New Life of Old Masters", the opening of which was held in the Pushkin Museum to them. Pushkin, a series of exhibitions opened, anticipating the future exposure of the new Art Gallery. It will showcase exhibits composed of the works of old masters stored in the collections of the Pushkin Museum. The gallery will be located in the estate building, once owned by Vyazemsky-Dolgorukov. Its opening for visitors is planned in the 1019th year.

To date, the exhibition space of the museum does not allow visitors to get acquainted with the richest collection of the museum. The opened exhibition will introduce art connoisseurs to the canvases of the masters of the Spanish Golden Age and the works of artists from the German and Austrian school of painting of the 17th-19th centuries. At this time, the permanent expositions of the Pushkin Museum practically do not include canvases representing the work of the painters of these three schools.

Since the original building, where the museum is located, was designed and built as a training museum operating at the Imperial University, its creators did not count on replenishing its collection. Museum workers tried to increase its exhibition space, but could not find places for all paintings, which are monuments of Western European art.

Despite the highest artistic quality, the canvases of the masters presented at the opening exhibition were kept in storage. Only a small part of them were presented in the permanent exhibition of the Pushkin Museum. After the opening of the new Art Gallery, the exhibition area of which will be 6 thousand square meters. meters, in it soy will find a permanent place for more than nine hundred works, previously inaccessible to the general public.

The first exhibition of a large-scale project of the Pushkin Museum will be open until May 17.
