The first performance of Meyerhold Meetings was Medea Automatic translate
In Moscow, on the stage of the Meyerhold Center, with the performance "Medea" performed by French artists, the Meyerhold Meetings festival opened on November 8th. This is the seventh festival dedicated to the great stage reformer. Initially, the festival was a show of the performances of one director, in the festival posters you could see the names of famous directors from Europe, well-known innovators of the scene.
Over the past two years, festival organizers have begun to use a different principle for holding the festival - it has become a collection of performances dedicated to one topic. Last year’s festival program was dedicated to Poland, and the repertoire of the current festival was formed around French performances, as members of the French Embassy and the French Institute working in Russia actively participated in its organization.
The organizers of the festival gave the audience the opportunity to see the performances, previously unknown to foreign directors, as well as to meet with their creators. The first acquaintance was the original modern interpretation of the ancient Greek tragedy "Medea", shown by the author of the text, the French writer Pascal Kinyar in collaboration with the dancer Carlotta Ikeda. In this performance there are two heroes - a reader, expressing emotions in a word, and a dancer, visually displaying them.
Next, viewers will see a modern version of the tale of Bluebeard, performed by the St. Petersburg Theater “AHE”. This work was written by the German playwright Dea Loer, and Pavel Semchenko and Maxim Didenko transferred it to the stage. Another young French troupe will complete the festival performances. Actors of the Clout Theater will show the public their work, which uses the works of Daniil Kharms - “How a Man Disintegrated”.
