Three paintings selected for participation in the East European Forum

MOSCOW. The expert commission immediately selected three projects of Russian directors to participate in the East European Forum, which will be held in Prague from March 2 to 8, 2015. The selected paintings tell about the problems of modern Russian society, about hatred and love, about the surrounding and inner world.

The documentary film “Olga is going home, or love is in Siberian” tells about the search for true feelings in snowy Siberia. The main character of the picture Olga Delan, a director by profession, returns to her native Russia after twenty years of living abroad. Tired of relations with cold German boyfriends, Olga decides to go to Russia and find out what “Siberian love” is. Throughout the year, she will take pictures of young couples, go to weddings, document the best jokes and love songs, and perhaps find her love.

The second film, “Native”, directed by Vitaly Mansky, tells of the complicated relations between Russians and Ukrainians - close people who, by the will of fate, found themselves on the opposite side of the barricade in an instant. To convey to the viewer the multifaceted history of Ukraine, the director visited Lviv, Odessa, Crimea and the Donbass. The picture "Relatives" is, first of all, the real story of family relationships of Vitaly Mansky himself. The crisis in Ukraine also affected his family: after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the director remained in Russia, and part of his family - in his hometown of Lviv.

The third project from Russia, which was included in the Project Market, is a documentary film about killer whales “The Last Russian Killer Whale”. The film is a joint work of Russian directors Olga Arlauskas, Gayane Petrosyan and Nikita Tikhonov-Rau. The picture tells about the extermination by poachers of a unique white Russian killer whale.

Thanks to the unique program of support for the Eastern European Forum, these works will be able to see the audience after several years. The special year-round program of the Forum helps young directors to write scripts and promote paintings on the market. In addition, films included in the assistance program will be included in the East Silver Market, one of the largest databases of television and creative documentaries from Eastern and Central Europe.
