1 Augustiner-Chorherrenstift mit Stiftsmuseum, 3400 Klosterneuburg, ÖsterreichAustrian museums don't have a single defined work schedule. Many work without days off and don't rest on holidays. Museum admission tickets cost around 10 euros. Children, pensioners, and students are entitled to a 50% discount almost everywhere. May 17th is celebrated as Museum Day. On this holiday, most museum exhibitions work absolutely free of charge. Austrian museums can also be visited free of charge on other holidays. The exception is Christmas December 25th, when almost all institutions in the country are closed.
Tours in Austrian museums are conducted predominantly in German. English-speaking guides are often absent. Many institutions offer to buy a small booklet describing the collection of exhibits in English. It costs no more than 3-4 euros.
Austria is an attractive country for tourists. It's famous for luxurious Alpine resorts, magnificent lakes, and the most memorable and beautiful music in the world, which can be heard in every Viennese café. Many who decide to spend their vacation in this country won't regret the time spent in this beautiful and vibrant country.
This country's architecture is replete with lavish Baroque and Empire styles, attracting with the beauty of medieval castles. Such castles as Schönbrunn, Hofburg Mirabell, and many others sparkle with the brilliance of their decoration and allure with elegant forms. Moreover, they serve as treasuries of world art. In these gilded and marble halls, one can find artworks by great and most talented European masters. Here also sounds the beautiful music of Mozart and Strauss.
Special attention should be paid to museums in this Alpine country. The Alpine country is famous for its truly rich museums. They are filled with diverse collections by great authors. In Austria's capital, there's the Tower of Fools, which after so many years still instills terror in visitors and tourists. In Wattens, there are the fairy-tale crystal worlds of Swarovski, which cannot be passed by. Mozart's atmospheric house in Salzburg takes your breath away with its beauty and decoration.
For ski sport enthusiasts, Austria will seem like paradise. It contains Europe's best resorts. They pleasantly surprise visitors with affordable prices, quality developed infrastructure, and ski slopes. Most importantly, special attention is paid to tourist safety. There are about a thousand such places in Austria. In the Wilder area alone, there are about two hundred eighty kilometers of ski slopes. The resort Zell am See is quite suitable for beginners. Bad Gastein has high-class slopes, and international competitions are held in this region. The most popular ski resort is considered to be Ischgl.
Another attraction of Austria is its national parks. The nature reserve "Hohe Tauern" alone represents a dreamland filled with snow-white peaks and blue clear lakes. Full-flowing waterfalls and deep, dark gorges make one remember fairy tales read in childhood about gnomes and goblins who hide their treasures in these depths. Brown bears and lynx can often be encountered here.
Special tribute to beauty must be paid to the full-flowing lakes of this beautiful country. Renting a car, one can drive through the lands of Salzburg to Bad Ischl. Here visitors find themselves in a beautiful lake region. On this land spreads the mirror surface of lakes Traunsee and Wolfgangsee. Nearby towns in summer are drowning in various flowers, mountain slopes are covered with green carpets of grass. All this magnificence is reflected in the huge and calm surfaces of the lakes.
Only in this country can one enjoy complete peace and merge in harmony with nature. Here one can spend pleasant evenings with a beloved girl or have an active vacation with a company of cheerful ski sport enthusiasts.
