1 Im Park Sanssouci 4, 14469 Potsdam, DeutschlandGerman museums predominantly operate without days off. Some rest on Monday. Most exhibitions can be visited from 9:00–10:00 in the morning until late evening. Working hours during the summer period are extended due to the influx of tourists.
Ticket prices for German museums average up to 12 euros. There is discounted admission for pensioners, youth, and children. Some museums offer savings by paying for your ticket online.
Some German museums can only be visited by prior reservation, even if it's not an organized tour group but an individual tourist. This should be clarified in advance.
The Most Unusual Museums in Germany
Germany particularly surprises everyone with its unusual museums, as you can encounter a mousetrap museum or license plate museum and others here. Anyone who has ever visited this country absolutely had to visit one of these attractive places. I would like to introduce you to the largest and most famous museums in Germany.
Plastinarium Museum
This museum is located in the city of Guben and appeared rather scandalously, as it is a museum of mummies and corpses. Anatomist Gunther von Hagens invented a method by which all organs can preserve their original appearance using the plastination technique. Of course, the church cannot support such an idea, so it has repeatedly opposed the appearance of such a museum, as it disturbs the peace of the dead. Here you can see many different interesting exhibits, for example, three people playing poker, except the people resemble zombies from horror films.
Museum of Erotica
Back in 1996, Beate Uhse organized the creation of this wonderful museum, which has now become very popular. Thanks to its founder, the first sex shop appeared many years ago.
The museum has 3 floors, with many exhibits presented on each floor, totaling around 5,000 pieces. Here you can see many illustrations, paintings, the first condoms, and erotic films.
Museum of Lies
This museum presents many exhibits about which false stories are told. Even the building itself was built relatively recently, although it was designed to look antique.
Walking through all 10 rooms, you can see amazing things: Hitler's mustache or Stalin's mop, or rather his father's. This place contradicts all stereotypes, so not everyone considers the idea of its creation sensible.
You cannot comment Why?
