During tourist season, which lasts from June to August, Norwegian museums switch to full working days from 10:00 to 17:00–19:00 hours. The rest of the time they close already at lunch (after 14:00).
Payment in Norwegian museums must be made with local crowns. For pensioners, children, and organized groups (from 10 people), discounts are provided almost everywhere. There are even family tickets. If a museum tour is needed, it's only conducted by prior appointment and arrangement.
Norway's harsh beauty attracts more and more travelers. This northern part of Europe is famous for its magnificent ski resorts, beautiful nature, and cold mountain rivers with crystal-clear water. Also, in Norway, you can find many architectural monuments. All attractions are carefully protected by the country's residents. The country itself is still a kingdom. It even has its own monarch who rules according to a constitution adopted back in 1814.
The country's climate is temperate. Winter temperatures rarely drop below fifteen degrees, and in summer can rise to twenty degrees.
Ancient stave churches still stand in this country. They were built about a thousand years ago. The wooden church in Urnes, for example, is recognized as a cultural heritage site.
In Oslo—Norway's capital—dozens of museums and galleries are located. These cultural centers of the country tell visitors about the life and customs of Vikings and Norwegian national traditions.
Norway is open not only to adults. Entertainment complexes can be found here for children too. For example, upon arrival in the country, you can visit the family park Hunderfossen. For older children and youth, the Tusenfryd amusement park is suitable. They will be delighted by various types of extreme attractions.
In the capital Oslo, tourists are often attracted to the Munch museum-gallery and the Viking ship museum. Karl Johans Gate street leads to the royal palace. Near Oslo is the large city of Stavanger. Besides being an industrial and fishing center, it has an oil and gas museum and is famous for its wine festival.
The Bryggen quarter in Bergen or the Hanseatic waterfront is listed by UNESCO. Colorful and bright houses on the waterfront are very often photographed by tourists. People often come to the town of Ålesund for the Troll Road. This is a legendary route built in the early twentieth century literally under harsh and deadly conditions, as workers were constantly threatened by avalanches and rockfalls. Even now it's closed for a certain period from October to May due to poor weather conditions. Jostedalsbreen National Park contains Europe's largest glacier.
One of Norway's excursion routes passes by railway to the final station Flåm. Twenty kilometers long, it opens magnificent views for tourists of snow-peaked mountains, green valleys, rivers, and waterfalls.
Another Norwegian attraction is a gigantic cliff. It rises above Lysefjord. The cliff's end is crowned with a flat platform. The journey takes about two hours of walking through mesmerizing mountain landscapes. It begins from forests at the foot and ends with mosses and lichens at the summit.
In Norway, you can see the northern lights in all their beauty. Its flashes begin playing in the winter night sky with various colors from October and end in February.
Norway is an ideal country both for tourists who adore skiing and for family vacations.
