I absolutely love the paintings of Fedor Vasiliev... They have such freshness, serenity, and a touch of gentle melancholy. Theys simply beautiful... You never get tired of admiring them! Thank you!
This painting is magnificent.
Thank you very much! I also really liked this painting, as well as others. Theres a certain simplicity in them, while at the same time they capture all the splendor of nature.
Please consider a reproduction of F. A. Vasilievs painting Wet Meadow (see the color insert). Describe its content and share your impressions of the painting.
(A beautiful painting,) fresh and unusual!
The painting is simply superb!
F. A. Vasiliev is one of the most talented Russian landscape painters. His spiritual mentor, I. N. Kramskoi, said that he was destined to bring to Russian landscape painting what it lacked and still lacks – poetry in natural execution.
very cool
I really like the paintings by Fedor Vasiliev; they are full of freshness and tranquility...

We were assigned to write an essay about a painting, and some comments helped me with this. Thank you!
Could someone please provide a detailed description? Im having trouble finding it, and I urgently need it for an essay.
Choose something from this.
The plot of the painting by F. A. Vasiliev is quite simple. Open space. It has just rained, and its damp. A row of storm clouds still stretches across the sky, but rays of sunlight are already coloring the clouds a delicate pink. The wet grass of the meadow, curly trees in the distance, the calm surface of the river. The clouds cast their shadows on the ground. Its fresh. The air is washed by rain and filled with the aroma of meadow grasses. After the storm – peace. It seems that the whole world is resting after a worrying day.
It has just rained. Patches of blue clouds still swirl in the sky, but nature is already shaking itself off, coming back to life after the rain. The meadow, washed by rain, shines with clean, vibrant colors. In the background of the painting are echoes of the passing storm, swirling clouds. In the foreground, the artist depicts the ground washed by rain. He admires every blade of grass, every leaf, and every clod of earth.
Fyodor Alexandrovich Vasiliev shows us a simple Russian landscape, where the sky occupies most of the space.
A series of storm clouds stretches across the sky, but rays of sunlight breaking through paint the clouds in a delicate pink color. The wet grass of the meadow, curly trees in the distance, and the calm reflection of the river create a serene scene. The clouds cast their shadows on the ground. Its fresh. The air is washed by rain and filled with the aroma of meadow grasses. After the storm comes peace. It seems as if the whole world is resting after a worrying day.
Oh man... I cant seem to write a decent essay about this painting.
I need a personal opinion! I cant think of anything! Please help me.
And why is it necessary to write these stupid essays in the first place?
I agree! Nothing comes to mind at all! Ill manage! )) Maybe...
I cant think of anything to say about this picture (((
I HATE ESSAYS!!!
Early morning. Dawn has broken. A faint glow reflects in the smooth surface of the pond. Along the gentle hills, the edge of the sky turns golden. Closer by, fluffy, heavy clouds gather and drift. The shadows of the clouds glide across the damp earth, patches of grass, clumps of wet meadow vegetation, and the dark masses of trees. Its fresh and invigorating. A light mist obscures the distance. The artist has achieved the most difficult thing: the landscape is alive. Rarely will you find such a lyrical solution in a painting by even a classic of European landscape art like Charles François Dobiigny. The relentless prose gave birth to a poignant poetry of the wilderness. Already, ripples shimmer on the water, awakened by a breeze. The meager blades of grass are already stirring on the light-filled earth. And the darkness that creeps from the depths retreats before the onslaught of the emerging day. The rustling of sparse grass. The indistinct murmur of water. The silent, inexorable movement of clouds. A play of light and shadow, the awakening of nature, washed by rain and ready to greet a new day.
One of the features of Wet Meadow, which is characteristic of most of Vasilyevs other works, is the wholeness of the image, combined with careful and detailed elaboration of details. Under the artists brush, every blade of grass, stone with sunlight glinting off it, dry branch – everything seems equally precious, as if imbued with the afterglow of the artists attentive and loving gaze.
I have an excessive sensitivity to each individual tone, Vasilyev writes in one of his letters, which sometimes frightens me terribly. This is understandable: where I clearly see a tone, others may not see anything or may see only gray and black areas. The same happens in music: sometimes a musician has such a developed ear that their motifs seem monotonous to others. A painting true to nature should not blind with any particular detail; it should not be divided into colorful patches by sharp contrasts.
The compositionally strict painting is striking for its freshness, depth, and rich internal gradation of color. The image of nature captured by Vasilyev contains a complex gamut of feelings, conveying the experiences of the artist himself.
I love writing essays... so many thoughts come to mind... sometimes even things that are completely irrelevant pop up.
I hate writing essays, especially when it comes to describing a painting. My mind is just a blank slate... Theres a tree in the painting, and what? It doesnt make me feel any better!
I can write a good essay if I like the topic. For example, I could write a whole book about Twilight.
Im sitting here and struggling! I hate writing essays (about anything and everything). Thanks for the guidance.

Mariyka, thank you for the essay.
Yes, thank you, and thank you from my side as well, this is a great website!
Heres my two cents!
Many Russian painters depict landscapes, but each artist has their own unique style. Wet Meadow is a true embodiment of Fyodor Vasilievs artistic vision. It may seem that the painting simply portrays a meadow after rain, but the artist brings so many details and nuances into his work. The clouds through which the sun peeks, the lingering remnants of storm clouds, water on the meadow, wet grass... When you look at the painting, you feel that very air that settles after a heavy downpour. This beautiful, clean air permeates the entire canvas and seems to unite its elements. This poetic style of depicting nature has become the artists signature. The grass in the foreground is painted in deep, vibrant green, just as it looks after a strong rain. Overall, the impression from the painting is stunning; its one of those brilliant works that makes your heart beat faster.
Thank you very much for your thoughts!
I hope I will get a good grade.
Thank you very much! You helped me too

I cant write an essay either; please help!
Thank you very much.
Thank you for the essay. Great!
Thank you to everyone!
Thank you very much!
For example, I started my essay like this: Not many people can see all the beauty of simple Russian nature. One such artist is Vasiliev, and his painting is called Wet Meadow.
If someone just wants to write something, its better to do so without being too specific. That is, dont describe every corner of the picture, but rather write about everything in general.
Good luck to everyone! *
Thank you AM for your wonderful website; its very helpful when writing essays!
Thank you so much for the essay. I added the rest myself and received a score of 5/5. Thank you very much again.

Hi everyone, please help me write an essay about this picture! )))
Thank you everyone.
The storm is receding, but the sky still seethes and churns. Threatening clouds rush by with frantic speed, colliding with each other; rumbles of thunder can still be heard – the entire scene is full of movement, everything lives and breathes: the trees bending in the gusts of wind, the water rippled by the breeze, and the sky... Even the sky, imbued with a typically Vasiliev mood, stands in stark contrast to the ominous clouds that are still pouring streams of rain onto the forest visible in the distance.
In Fedor Vasilievs paintings, the sky always plays a significant role, and in Wet Meadow, it is perhaps the main means of expressing the artists poetic ideas. A sparkling, warm patch of light in the clouds, reflected in the water and echoed by highlights on the ground, battles with enormous dark and cold clouds and shadows racing across the land.
As if in contrast to the intense life of the sky, the rest of the landscape is extremely simple, and the lines of the drawing are softer and calmer. Every detail of the painting (and there are many of them) is a variation on the main theme, but all the details are so integrated into the whole that they can only be recognized with very careful observation.
At first glance, Wet Meadow attracts the viewer with its simplicity and familiarity. In the depths of a wide lowland, two sprawling trees rise. Far behind them, in the hazy mist of the forest, a strip of sky is visible. Along the lowland stretches a steep slope, and in front, almost in the center, glistens a marshy pond with muddy banks. That is essentially all that is depicted in Fedor Vasilievs painting. But his contemporaries saw more in this picture than just a generalized image of the northern nature familiar to the artist.
The painting captivates the viewer with its extraordinary depth of spiritualized landscape, the immediacy of feelings and moods embedded within it. Nature in F. Vasiliev is never presented as cold, eternal, and indifferent. He constantly sought harmony and purity within it. The artist warmed and imbued it with a deeply poetic feeling, and it was in his paintings that for the first time sounded that intimate-lyrical, sad and melancholic theme, which died away with his death. The moods of struggle and resistance expressed in Wet Meadow – on one hand, and on the other – sadness and melancholy captivate and involuntarily lead one to return to the tragic biography of its 22-year-old author.
Thank you for being here; it would be great if you could offer this option more often because its hard to find what we need otherwise!

Ah, thank you!
Repin always admired the ease with which Vasilev created his paintings. Just a few brushstrokes, and from the artists hand could appear a cloud, while another artist might spend hours on the same task.
A genius who left us too soon.
Thank you so much! Thats great! Even though I dont really like the Russian language, I guess Im my teachers favorite and a smart student. I read everything. Good job, everyone!
Thank you everyone.

F. A. Vasiliev is one of the most talented Russian landscape painters. His spiritual mentor, I. N. Kramskoy, said that he was destined to introduce into Russian landscape painting what it lacked and still lacks – poetry combined with naturalness of execution.
Wet Meadow was painted a year before the artists death. Due to health reasons, the artist had to leave St. Petersburg and move to Yalta. Crimea seemed so alien to him that he began to work, inspired by memories of recent times, of the nature of Central Russia, which he longed for. Thus, another of his outstanding paintings was born – Wet Meadow (1872). Painted not from life, but composed by the artist based on sketches made in different places and at different times, it amazed contemporaries with its freshness, accuracy in recreating the atmosphere, and above all, the sense of vague melancholy emanating from it. The master chooses a transitional moment in natures life, which is generally characteristic of Vasilievs works. A downpour has just passed. Patches of gray clouds still swirl in the sky, but nature has already begun to shake itself off, coming to life after the rain. The meadow washed by the rain shone with pure, saturated colors. Vasiliev had no equal in his ability to perceive color. This sensitivity to color energy places him in a special position in Russian painting of the late 1860s and 70s of the 19th century. In the background of the painting are echoes of the storm that has passed, swirling clouds. In the foreground, the artist depicts the earth washed by the rain. He admires every blade of grass, leaf, and clod of earth.
Wet Meadow received second prize for landscape at the competition of the Society for Encouragement of Artists in St. Petersburg. Vasiliev wrote to Kramskoy that his work already has a buyer in the person of Grand Duke Nicholas Konstantinovich. However, P. M. Tretyakov, not wanting to miss out on the painting, arrived in St. Petersburg before the opening of the competition and kept the painting for himself, buying it from the grand duke.
In addition, there is a wonderful article by N. A. Ionina about this painting on the following websites:

nearyou.ru/100kartin/100karrt_59.html:

Where are the gently pink clouds?
Ive read a lot of different essays, but Im going to try writing my own. Wish me luck! :):*:
Before us is the painting by F. A. Vasiliev Wet Meadow. The painting depicts a warm spring evening. Under an enormous dome of sky lies a meadow fresh after rain. Its already getting dark, but the sun still shines from behind the clouds. Dark leaden clouds drift into the distance. In the sky are golden-pink clouds that illuminate the last rays of sunlight. On the wet green grass of the spring meadow, huge dark shadows of the clouds are clearly visible.
It has just rained. Greyish clouds still swirl in the sky, but nature is already shaking itself off, coming back to life after the rain. The meadow washed by the rain gleams with pure, saturated colors. After the rain, the meadow has become even fresher, more fragrant, and more spacious. It stretches towards where pink clouds and purple clouds are. A light, warm breeze blows from the very ground, barely touching the grass and scattering clean, clear raindrops. It seems to deliberately spread these drops, freshness, and the scent of herbs. A river flows through the meadow. It is located under yellow-pink clouds, through which the sun shines, casting golden rays on the clear water. It is overgrown with dark green grasses, where it is even cleaner and wetter.
In the spacious meadow, there are also trees that stand alone beneath the dark, receding clouds, as if seeing them off.
The rain-washed wet meadow under an enormous sky, swollen with moisture clouds, a few trees in the distance, and shadows of clouds driven by the wind running across the damp grass. Everything in the painting is full of movement; everything lives and breathes, especially the sky with its seething and bubbling, with its play of light and cosmic infinity. The painting creates a wonderful impression. Its pleasant to look at the swaying grasses, wet from the spring rain, the sky sharply changing from dark gloomy colors to golden hues, and the river that reflects sunlight. One wants to rejoice in this green spring that welcomes the hot summer.
P. S. My essay is the best!!!
Thank you very much, the essay is great!
Im not good at writing essays, but I liked all the suggested options, and I combined them into one essay for which I received a grade of 5. Thank you =***
I know how to write an essay, but I was too lazy this time (((
I used the options you suggested above.
Thank you, Ksyushechka!
Im submitting the essay tomorrow and Ill be waiting for the grade.
Thanks again!
Hooray! I have finished writing my essay.
Can you write another essay about Mokry Lug (Wet Meadow)? Its really, really needed! Please help!
Thank you guys for the essays; I dont know what I would have done without you!
These essays are simply excellent, thank you everyone. I hope to get a good grade.
Thank you. My name is N., and Im calling from a city that starts with the letter C. This is a great, excellent essay. I received a grade of 4/5.
N from a city starting with the letter C contacted me. Its awful – the writing is completely ungrammatical. The освЯщает (which I cant interpret) seems particularly bad, and the whole thing reads like something written by a 5th grader! Sentences are only 5-6 words long. Whats happening to the Russian language?! If this is supposed to be good, then its barely filling 1/4 of a page!!! Haha.
classsnnnooo
Thank you very much. My name is N., and Im from a city that starts with the letter C. The essay is very good, but my teacher probably wont believe that I wrote it. Hahaha, Ill be hoping for the best. Thank you.
This is simply amazing, and Im going to say that this painting is super. I dont recommend writing an essay on this topic.
HUGE thank you! Mariyka)
Thanks to everyone, I managed to write a great essay!
One of Vasilyevs best paintings.
Thank you so much, you saved me! )))
This is an extraordinary painting; it really gives a sense of freshness...
Cool picture! Vasilyev is a really great artist.
Yes... the picture is magnificent :)
Thanks to all your comments, I was able to write a great essay! :*
A great painting
The painting is truly wonderful; it radiates a sense of coolness and freshness. The artist must have longed for this place, as they chose to depict this particular landscape. I was amazed by how accurately they captured every blade of grass and every leaf. I believe this painting will move everyone who sees it.
We are writing an essay about this painting. In fact, after seeing this painting, one feels a desire to live.
спасибо)
A magnificent painting that shows how sensitively the artist captures the beauty of nature.
Im speechless.
Thank you very much to everyone who writes their essays here. I cant write essays myself, and you have helped me a lot.
A very beautiful painting, fresh and morning-like.
Thats awesome!
Its very beautiful. The colors are so picturesque. Magnificent.
All the essays are terrible. I dont even know which one to choose; none of them are suitable. They are all written in such a complicated and convoluted way. Could someone please write an essay for me?
Класс
Great picture! Id like to see more like it.
Thank people for this, and if you dont like it, write yourself.
Its a very beautiful picture!
Before us is a spring evening scene. In the background, golden-pink and slightly blue-violet clouds drift by. The trees are refreshed after a heavy rain and wind. A river flows through the meadow. The river merges with flowers of golden-pink hues, as if it were morning. Near the river, there are dark grasses that have been washed clean by the rain. In the foreground, lush grasses indicate that it has indeed rained.
Its a pleasant scene to look at; watching it brings joy to the soul.
спасибо)
The painting is subtly beautiful; it evokes a sense of sadness, but without being overtly melancholic. Fedor Vasiliev didnt like to use dark shades for the sky. I get strange feelings when I look at it, and even if I dont understand what those emotions are, it still feels pleasant.
I agree with you.
спасибо ))
Is 14 your age?
Yes...
Its quite impolite to ask such silly questions on a forum like this!
Please forgive me, I beg you! Its my fault! But the painting is gorgeous!
You know, I wouldnt degrade myself like that. I would have been satisfied if you had just stopped writing to me and that was it.
Youre amazing too, and so smart! I wish I could be like you! I would never have expressed my feelings the way you do.
Enough already!
Two stupid girls!
Oh my god, please be quiet *-*
Thank you for the essays you provided; they are very helpful in sparking ideas :)).
Thank you very much! You helped a lot.
Here I am, still having so much to rewrite.
Some kind of nonsense.
What charm!
Thank you very much, the essays are very good and they were very helpful.
Our teacher is so strict and easily catches us because most of us are basically copying from the same website.
A beautiful painting!
Oh, how beautiful! :))
Look at the sky! Its so beautiful! I dont know how you feel, but I love it!
Excellent! :))))
classes!!! =)
Thank you, you helped me a lot with my essay on Rusich! I am very grateful for your efforts.
I dont like this painting.
(A very beautiful painting!)
Thank you very much, I really liked it.
Beautiful picture!
The painting is just a painting; theres nothing particularly special about it.
The painting is lovely and very colorful! Well done :)
This painting evokes such tranquility and serenity in me. Its as if I can smell the sea air, and a childlike joy washes over me. I want to run barefoot through the water after the rain...
I LIKE IT! Zik Hajn!
In terms of expressiveness, it can only be rivaled by the motif of rain-soaked greenery in the foreground, rendered in vibrant colors. The main motif is the unusual state of nature. Just look at the small pond with a breeze rippling across the water, the light shadow that seems to run along the ground behind a receding cloud, and even the same foreground with its grassy vegetation, to understand how everything depicted fills the landscape with a sense of change taking place in nature. The motif of spring bad weather acquires a newly discovered aesthetic significance, incorporating into painting a concept close to music – melody. Wet Meadow opened a new page in the development of landscape painting.
Karina is full of life.
At first glance, Mokry Lug (Wet Marsh) appeals to the viewer with its simplicity and familiarity of plot.
I really liked the painting!
ну незнаю
I have a painting titled BEFORE THE STORM hanging in my house. I wonder if its the original or a copy?
very chic, very beautiful.
Great!
This painting captures the artists feelings before death!
Vladimir embroidery.
You cannot comment Why?
The sky dominates the upper half of the canvas, a tapestry of light and shadow. Bright, diffused sunlight breaks through on the left, hinting at a clearing or impending dawn/dusk. This light contrasts with darker, more turbulent clouds gathering on the right, rendered in shades of blue and grey, suggesting the possibility of rain or an approaching storm. This dramatic sky imbues the tranquil landscape with a sense of depth and atmospheric power.
The painting evokes a feeling of quiet solitude and the raw beauty of nature. The title, Wet Meadow, directly points to the dampness and fertility of the land, suggesting a time of abundance after rain or during the spring thaw. The subdued palette, with its emphasis on greens, browns, and soft blues, contributes to the overall sense of calm and natural harmony.
There are no overt human figures, emphasizing the dominance of the natural world. However, the presence of what appear to be small birds on the water adds a touch of life. The overall impression is one of a peaceful, untouched corner of nature, captured at a moment of transition, between calm and potential storm, light and shadow. The subtext speaks to the cyclical nature of weather, the resilience of the land, and the profound beauty found in the everyday landscapes of the countryside. Vasiliev captures not just a scene, but a mood – a powerful, yet gentle, encounter with the natural world.
