Description of Ilya Repin’s The Last Supper
The great artist Ilya Repin created his masterpiece "The Last Supper" in 1903. The painting is now in the Novgorod State Museum. The work turned out to be excellent. It is one of the biblical subjects.
There are a lot of candles and lamps on the table, so the room is well lit. It is the light that creates the effect of movement. At the table sits the Teacher and his 12 apostolic disciples. Each of the 12 has a different expression on his face. Some will be faithful to Jesus and follow him to the end, others will betray him without blinking an eye.
Each person sitting at the table has his or her own facial expressions and thoughts, each one sitting differently from the others. This adds dynamism to the story. The apostles are depicted indistinctly in a loose, sketchy way. Jesus sits in the center of the table. He, clothed in a white robe, is hard to miss. It gives his image an epic quality. The style of this painting is broad free strokes and a sketchy style. The color scheme of the painting gives it vibrancy and brightness.
The room is not only well-lit, but it is smartly decorated and quite spacious. This is the dwelling of Simon the leper. It is on this evening that the Son of God will tell of his imminent betrayal and his imminent death. Everyone is fed after supper and listens to Christ’s predictions. No one can yet believe that their beloved Master will soon be gone. The disciples, however, listen to Christ’s speeches and it frightens them. He is young and full of strength and cannot die.
This painting is particularly good because Ilya Yukhimovich’s art began precisely with the painting of icons and churches. It was his first theme that runs through all his creative heritage. Among other things, it made him famous during his lifetime. Portraits of the artist thanks to masterful strokes just come to life in front of his eyes. The artist was so deeply imbued with the religious theme that he even went to the Holy Land to see those holy places himself.

кроме "Иовы" у Репина картины на библейские темы не очень получались.
You cannot comment Why?
The picture has something of this: people, group, wear, woman, furniture, man, room, many, seat, music, recreation, child, sit, several.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a group of people sitting around a table in a room with candles on the table and a woman standing in the middle of the room.
