Description of Ivan Shishkin’s painting "View of Düsseldorf Vicinities".
The famous painting "View in the vicinity of Düsseldorf" brought the Russian landscape painter I. Shishkin the title of Academician in 1865.
At that time the artist was in Germany for training. Together with other students at the Academy of Fine Arts he painted a lot in the forest Teutoburg, which is located near Dusseldorf. Shishkin madly liked the local landscapes, which reminded him of the beauty of nature in Russia.
All what he saw with great pleasure transferred to the canvas. Performed with the pen works Shishkin was highly appreciated by art admirers, and the artist himself wrote that he "made himself famous here," that he "is shown everywhere," and often asked if he was the same Shishkin, which "draws so beautifully.
The most famous painting of the master of the brush "View of neighborhoods near Dusseldorf" was painted near Dusseldorf, it was commissioned by the eminent collector from St. Petersburg ND Bykov.
Before creating a masterpiece Shishkin wrote many sketches of similar themes, some of the sketches even became a separate work.
Starting to work on the commission, the artist could not immediately decide on the subject. Shishkin’s initial idea - a portrayal on the canvas of a landscape after the last thunderstorm. However, after a while the artist changed his plans and decided to depict the landscape in anticipation of a thunderstorm, not after it. On the whole, the painting is very airy and filled with light.
Every person contemplating this painting can feel the warmth and heartfeltness of nature. The painter draws each element of the canvas very skillfully. He placed a gloomy cloud in the upper corner on the right, obscuring the sun.
It is this detail that indicates the approach of the thunderstorm. Here the master of brush filigree depicts the changes in nature with the help of contrast and saturation of tones. Shishkin’s thunderstorm symbolizes the joy of life, because people don’t think of fleeing from bad weather, but feel like part of nature.

The picture has something of this: landscape, tree, nature, outdoors, sky, hill, mountain, grass, summer, rural, countryside, hayfield, scenic, wood, field, beautiful, agriculture, idyllic.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a landscape with a man and a dog in the foreground and a hill in the distance with a cloudy sky in the background.
