The artist utilized a palette of rich, saturated tones – deep blues, warm golds, and earthy greens – to contrast against the pale, luminous skin of the subjects. The lighting appears soft yet directional, highlighting the musculature and curves of the figures, which gives them a sculptural quality reminiscent of Hellenistic statuary. Surrounding the central group are several other women in various states of repose and motion: one figure leans forward from the left, her body partially submerged in the surf, while another on the right presents her back to the viewer, creating a sense of depth and guiding the eye through the circular composition.
Beyond the immediate visual elements, there is a palpable subtext of mythic vitality. The way the figures interact with the water and the surrounding foliage suggests a connection to nature spirits or nymphs inhabiting a primordial landscape. There is an underlying tension between the tranquility of the seaside setting and the kinetic energy conveyed by the swirling fabrics and twisting limbs. This creates a narrative of awakening or a ritualistic gathering. The gaze of some figures toward the viewer, contrasted with others lost in introspection, invites the spectator to participate in this private, elemental moment, bridging the gap between the earthly realm and a legendary, idealized past.
