Ukraine hosted the festival of street art "BLACK CIRCLE 2012"

The Black Circle of the 3rd international festival was held from June 14-18 in an abandoned sanatorium in the city of Yaremche (Ukraine). Nestled among the mountains, surrounded by coniferous and deciduous forests, this small city has become a springboard for creative self-realization of Ukrainian, Belarusian, Polish, French, Russian artists.

The object for transformation into a tourist attraction was the territory of an abandoned sanatorium. Ruins everywhere are a kind of beacon for artists who realize themselves in the traditions of street art. However, in large cities, due to overpopulation and the prevalence of weak works over strong ones, such works often go unnoticed. In less populated regions, each such job is akin to an explosion.

The transformation of ruins into independent art objects is the main idea of the festival, whose participants got the opportunity to create without limitations in volume, theme and form, although adhering to the framework of "black" art. The result was original work, causing a fairly wide range of emotions. Forcing, if not to admire, to think so, these works are somewhere between high art and folk art, colored by deep social influence and harsh criticism of reality. Such is the modern "public art", such is the modern life in the minds of young people.
