Lithographs from the heritage of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec will be presented to connoisseurs of Kazan

The inhabitants of Kazan for the first time had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the genuine works of the French artist-legend. The lithographs of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, starting from August 17, will be presented at the exhibition "Paris, Paris…", which will be held in the Kazan Kremlin, where the Hazine National Gallery is located.

Visitors to the gallery, which is part of the State Museum of Tatarstan, will get acquainted with some of the graphic works of Lautrec’s heritage. During his short life, the famous artist painted more than six hundred paintings, and the sketches, mainly drawn in the entertainment venues of night Paris, left after his early death several thousand.

In the field of lithography, Lautrec was one of the pioneers, having created about 350 works in eight years, among which there were prints and posters. His graphics turned out to be an extraordinary phenomenon, which was reflected in the works of graphic artists who worked in later years.

The work in the field of graphics, which began for Lautrec by writing posters for cafes, became the basis for creating poster art, in which there was an amazing combination of negligence with the sophistication of graphics. The heroes of the artist’s drawings were the singers and dancers of the famous cabarets of Paris, many of which have remained popular to this day.

Kazan connoisseurs of painting, visiting the exhibition with the saying name “Paris, Paris…”, will have the opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of the era, which is called “La Belle Epoque”. The exposition, consisting of 48 genuine lithographs, which will be accompanied by French music, reflects the splendor of the bohemian life that Paris became famous at the end of the XIX century. The exhibition will wait for visitors until the last days of September.
