Rare works of Shishkin in the Museum of Art of Tatarstan

The Art Museum of the Republic of Tatarstan provided an opportunity for residents and guests of Kazan to join in the beautiful - an exhibition has opened, which museum workers in Kazan, together with art lovers, celebrate the anniversary of Ivan Shishkin. The famous artist, with whose work every Russian is probably familiar, turns 180 years old.

The exposition of the exhibition presents visitors with more than a hundred works by the artist. In addition to the works available in the collection of the Kazan Museum, works from the collections of the main museums of the country will be shown. The paintings from their funds brought the Tretyakov Gallery and the St. Petersburg Russian Museum.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see paintings that are not as famous as those familiar from childhood from reproductions, the most famous canvases by I. Shishkin. Many of the artist’s works are exhibited extremely rarely, since the conditions for their preservation are only in the storerooms of museums. From the collection of the Kazan Museum, which is the third most important among Russian museums, 25 drawings, 40 lithographs and 34 paintings are selected for display at the exhibition. These works will show visitors of the exhibition that Ivan Shishkin is not only one of the most famous landscape masters in Russia, but also a wonderful painter.

The last time such an exhibition was in the city thirty years ago, when they celebrated the 150th anniversary of the birth of I. Shishkin.
