Exhibition of homespun fabrics at the Museum of Belarusian Folk Art

On September 6, Minsk hosted the opening of the exhibition Belaruskaya Posіlka, whose visitors will have the opportunity to get in touch with the national traditions of weaving.

Modern people rarely rank folk crafts as high art. However, modern hande-made is very different from those miracles that our ancestors knew how to create. Generations brought up on consumer goods have almost forgotten ancient traditions.

Only a few remember that in every thing created with their own hands, they put a sacred meaning. The embroidered shirt protected from illnesses, misfortunes and an evil evil eye. Painted shutters evoked joy in the house. Homespun fabrics were often decorated with ornaments of symbols of fertility, the forces of nature, reflecting the cosmogonic model of the world.

Therefore, a new exhibition in Raubichi, which will last until November 30, as if dipping us into past centuries, when symbols, signs and even colors had a sacred meaning.
