The history of the Don region and the landscapes of the East in the canvases of Hovhannes Lusegenov

In the Museum of Fine Arts of the city of Rostov-on-Don, a personal exhibition of one of the leading artists of the Don Region, Hovhannes Lusegenov, continues to work. The works selected by artists for the exposition of the exhibition occupied four exhibition halls of the museum. Over his life, Hovhannes Lusegenov exhibited his paintings more than once, but this exhibition became special for the painter.

This year, Hovhannes Melkonovich turned sixty years old. The Rostov solo exhibition of the artist is only the beginning of a wide display of his works to the public in honor of the anniversary. The next stage will be a large exhibition, which will be held at the Moscow Academy of Arts. Last year, Hovhannes Lusegenov was awarded the highest Academy award - the artist was awarded the Gold Medal for his creative services.

Lusegenov received his professional education in Rostov-on-Don. The first step was the Grekov Art College, and after serving in the army, studies at Rostov University followed. He began to exhibit his works in 1977. The artist’s interest in the events of today’s world, in the stories that tell about the times farther, about the history of his people and the ability to see the beauty of the places where the artist managed to visit on numerous trips to Europe and the countries of the East, caused a variety of themes and genres of his works.

In the halls of the exhibition you can see the landscapes of the Don region, and next to them are paintings depicting the nature of China and India, as well as the unique architecture of these countries - temples and cultural monuments. Working in the countries of the East, the artist uses only his inherent combination of graphic techniques, receiving a unique combination of color shades of the paintings. The artist’s works shown at exhibitions have been awarded with many awards.
