The best works of art by masters from North Korea at an exhibition in the Central House of Artists

Central House of Artists in Moscow on Krymsky Val Street, opened an exhibition of contemporary art in North Korea, giving its visitors a unique opportunity to get acquainted closely with the works of artists from Pyongyang. The exposition of the exhibition was more than two hundred artworks performed in various painting techniques by representatives of the Mansude Creative Association, as well as the Embroidery Institute.

The Mansude Art Association, founded in North Korea more than fifty years ago, is a union that brings together representatives of all branches of art, from painting and sculpture to various types of applied art - embroidery, making dolls, and porcelain.

The authors working in the Mansude Association have become the creators of many noteworthy artwork and architectural monuments that have become symbols of North Korea. The DPRK art is inherently the embodiment of the ideas of state ideology, while at the same time incorporating the distinctive traditions of Korean painting.

Masters of artistic embroidery, whose best works are presented at the exhibition, make their masterpieces using silk threads of a rich color palette. These works are real paintings - landscapes, images of animals, still lifes. Silk fabric serves only as a canvas, and instead of a brush, the master works with the finest embroidery needle. To create such a picture may require several months of painstaking work.

The exhibition, which will be open to visitors until November 25th, has become a great cultural event not only for Russians, but also for the DPRK, which still adheres to the “closed” policy.
