"Normandy in Painting" at the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum

Industrial Dnepropetrovsk continues to fight for the title of cultural capital, although it is somewhat behind the Ukrainian capital, Ternopol and Lviv. From November 13 to January 22, 2013, an exhibition of French painting dedicated to Normandy (late 19th - early 20th century) is held in his art museum.

57 works were selected for the exhibition. Their goal is to reflect the main directions of painting of this period. Therefore, visitors have the opportunity to see "Normandy in Painting" in a wide variety of designs - realism, romanticism, impressionism, post-impressionism.

For the first time, residents of Dnepropetrovsk got the opportunity to see world masterpieces without going abroad. The beautiful works of Claude Monet, Camille Corot, Theodore Gericault, Eugene Boudin, Auguste Renoir and others were presented to their gaze. Painters, fleeing from the noise of the city bustle, went to Normandy, where the harmony of nature poured into their work.

Numerous landscapes, scenes from the lives of ordinary peasants and fishermen, the lyrical mood of the creators and their thoughts about life - all this can be "read" in the works presented at the exhibition. The French embassy made a wonderful gift to the townspeople, giving them the opportunity to let the beautiful into their souls not from reproductions and photographs, but from the originals!

The exhibition has a special, bright atmosphere and a soothing effect on the psyche. Fresh, bright colors, their gentle combination and the radiant light of French Normandy - which visitor, tired of the slush and grayness of November, will remain indifferent? Previously, they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the exposition in Kiev and Lviv, not to mention France. Where this collection is considered a national treasure, which all the French can rightfully be proud of.
