"Atlantis of the USSR" in the Pharmaceutical order of MuAr

MOSCOW. March 21 in Moscow, the opening of the personal exhibition of the artist Mikhail Karasik "Atlantis of the USSR." The author’s attention was focused on the grandiose architectural structures erected during the Soviet Union. But who still have not lost the scale of the plan and their deep symbolic meaning.

Most of the structures that fell on the canvases were erected as a symbol of a brighter future, into which communism leads its peoples. Therefore, now many of the buildings of that time seem like a strange anachronism, since they are monuments of utopia, which the whole country was striving for, but could not reach it and implement!

Each picture is an attempt to convey the grand aura of "Atlantis of the USSR." We see Soviet constructivism, agitation design, and the famous Tower of Babel of Communism - the Palace of Soviets, executed according to the plan of the architect Boris Iofan.

Buildings of the past, in the paintings of Mikhail Karasik appear in a new light. It is as if the artist asks: “What would happen if the dream of communism came true?” And before the eyes of the viewer there are images of a magnificent idea, which never came to life. But on the other hand, it gave strength to all the peoples of the USSR to move on and overcome terrible trials!
