"Soviet pin-up" by Valery Barykin

ST. PETERSBURG. January 25 in St. Petersburg opened an exhibition of Soviet posters, painted by artist Valery Barykin. The opening took place in the art gallery of Erarta, where all those present can immerse themselves in the special atmosphere of the visual culture of the last century.

The artist is trying to resurrect the art of creating a Soviet poster, the vivid images of which are powerfully driven into the head and make an indelible impression even half a century after their creation. However, Valery Barykin does not try to just imitate. He analyzes the culture of that period, studies the American technique of creating poster images, pop culture, historical nuances. And transfers all his knowledge to the present.

The exhibition "Soviet pin-up" is a "hodgepodge" of art of two warring countries in the twentieth century - the USA and the USSR. Now that the enmity is left behind, the artist is trying to find something in common in such different cultures and combines them into a single whole. The posters he created are imaginative, vibrant, and sexually American.
