Masterpieces of the Tretyakov Gallery at an exhibition in the Kemerovo region

KEMEROVSK REGION, PROKOPIEVSK. The Tretyakov Gallery made a magnificent gift to the inhabitants of Prokopyevsk. One of the oldest cities in the Kemerovo region hosts the unique exhibition “Masterpieces of the Tretyakov Gallery”. The exhibition, organized with the active assistance of the city administration, began work on August 22 at the Hermitage Exhibition Center.

The staff of the Tretyakov Gallery selected works created by famous Russian artists in the 1870-1890s for the exhibition. Painting belonging to this era is the most famous part of the collection of the Gallery. Most of the exposition was made up of works by artists, whose work was highly appreciated by the founder of the Gallery. Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov possessed a talent for the objective selection of paintings that are significant for the history of Russian art.

The exposition of the exhibition consists of 15 paintings made by the largest Russian painters, whose names are known even to those who do not belong to connoisseurs of painting. Some of the works provided by the museum staff for the exhibition are in the permanent exhibition of the Gallery. They were removed from the walls of museum halls, so that residents of the Kemerovo region had the opportunity to see the originals of famous paintings with their own eyes.

In addition to the paintings themselves, it is worth paying attention to their unique design. High-value art frames frame 12 paintings. Recently, the Tretyakov Gallery has been working on the preparation of a project dedicated to this important area of decorative art.

Until October 19, for almost two months, residents of Prokopyevsk will be able to see the landscapes of Shishkin and Levitan, plot paintings by Makovsky and Vasnetsov, portraits of Perov and Repin
