"Image of the soul" - the work of the Lipetsk painter Vasily Shevchenko at an exhibition in the art gallery of Tambov

TAMBOV. "Images of the soul" - under this name, the art gallery opened an exhibition of paintings written by Vasily Shevchenko, a famous painter from Lipetsk. With this exhibition, gallery staff celebrate the 90th anniversary of the artist, who created works that cannot be passed indifferently. With his paintings, Vasily Shevchenko visited many exhibitions held in the capital’s halls, and participated in foreign shows.

The work of Vasily Shevchenko has always aroused interest among art lovers and famous art critics. His paintings were readily acquired by collectors collecting works of art by talented craftsmen. Tambov lovers of art for the third time to meet with the work of Vasily Shevchenko.

This time, visitors to the gallery will see paintings created by the Lipetsk painter during the last two decades of his life. Art historians studying the work of Vasily Shevchenko, argue that it was then that his talent and skill reached their peak. The paintings presented in the exhibition are a gift to the gallery from Taisiya Filippovna Fedorova, the widow of the artist. Born in the Tambov region, Taisiya Filippovna considered that the inhabitants of her native land should know the work of her husband.

Vasily Shevchenko rarely turned to the portrait genre. However, in the center of the opened exposition there is a female portrait, on which the artist depicted the main admirer of his work - his wife, Taisiya Fedorova. Having painted it in 1989, the author gave the portrait a name - “Behind the book”.

The remaining works of the exhibition were landscapes and still lifes filled with allegories. The images created by the artist on his colorful canvases, he reveals to the audience the state of his own soul.
