The Garage Museum presents for the first time in Russia the work of Takashi Murakami, the famous Japanese artist

MOSCOW. Since September 29, the Garage, the capital’s Museum of Modern Art, has been waiting for visitors to the first large-scale exhibition, representing the Russian art of the artist Takashi Murakami.

The unusual work of Takashi Murakami is so spectacular that seven years ago, for his personal exhibition, held in Paris, the Palace of Versailles was provided. A team of museum and studio staff from Takashi Murakami worked on the creation of the exposition, opened in the Garage under the name “It will be gentle rain”.

More than a hundred people were involved in placing an exposition in the Garage exhibition space, which took about two years to prepare for the show. For a better perception by the audience of the works of Japanese celebrity, the exhibition was divided into five sections. Each of them is dedicated to one of the phenomena of Japanese culture, somehow used by Muraki in his works.

Journey through the exhibition begins with an introduction to the chapter "Geijutsu", revealing the connection of the artist with Japanese traditions. The works collected in the next chapter are devoted to the tragic events of Japanese history. “Baby” and “Fat Man” - this was the name of the nuclear bombs dropped on the cities of Japan by the Americans.

“Kawaii” - this chapter emphasizes the connection of Murakami’s work with the mass culture of Japan. In the same section of the exhibition, visitors can see the film “The Eye of the Jellyfish,” authored by Murakami.

The chapter “Sutadzio” will allow visitors to visit the artist’s studio, which has become part of the museum. The rest of the museum’s space became the fifth part of the exposition, called “Asobi and Kazari”. It reveals the game essence of the work of Takashi Murakami, his love of decorativeness.

Acquaintance with the work of the Japanese master will continue until February 4.
