Murakami called for peaceful coexistence with his shadow

ODESSA. Haruki Murakami received the Andersen Award in Denmark.

The decision of the organizing committee of the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award to give preference to Haruki Murakami was announced in November 2015. In accordance with the rules, it was presented almost a year later in the Danish city of Odense.

At the ceremony, the most translated and successful Japanese writer received from the hands of the crown princess of Denmark Mary, Countess Monpez (Kronprinsesse Mary) a bronze figurine by sculptor Stine Ring Hansen and a diploma. The monetary equivalent of the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award is half a million Danish kroner or $ 76, 300. This pleasant event was the pill that sweetened the bitterness of the next "fly" past the long-awaited Nobel Prize. Earlier, Isabel Allende, Salman Rushdie, JK Rowling and Paulo Coelho became the holders of the main literary award in Denmark. The mention of Andersen’s fairy tale “Shadow” in a thank-you speech turned out to be extremely appropriate. Murakami reminded the audience that each person has both a light and a dark side. The latter must be able to resist, not to allow it to grow, so that it does not destroy everything else. And for this you need to learn to build relationships with your own shadow. You can erect tall walls arbitrarily, chase away strangers and rewrite history. But in the end, it gets worse to those who do it.
