"Gustave Dore’s Masterpieces" - an exhibition of illustrations of the famous French graphic artists presented in Bryansk

BRYANSK. The Metropolitan company "Artguide" for the first time in Russia presents the exhibition project "Masterpieces of Gustave Dore." Thanks to the creators of this project, graphic art connoisseurs had the opportunity to get acquainted with the illustrations created by an outstanding French artist.

Gustave Doret created his magnificent engravings in the 19th century, but even today his illustrations of literary works are so highly valued that the French graphic is still an unsurpassed master of this genre. The exposition of the exhibition, which opened in Bryansk on October 6, housed the museum and exhibition center.

By visiting the exhibition, residents of Bryansk will be able to see the most famous works of Gustave Dore, the creation of which brought the artist worldwide fame. No less famous are the works, illustrations for which were made by a French master. Some of them are well known for copies reproduced in print.

This is the famous "Divine Comedy", "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen", "Magic Tales", written by fellow countryman Charles Perrault. Presented in the exposition and illustration of the Bible. All these engravings were created by Gustave Dore in the technique of lithography. It’s impossible to tear yourself away from these magnificent works.

During the artist’s life, publishers considered it a great success to be the first to publish works with illustrations of ingenious graphics. It was a new style of graphic art created by Gustave Dore.

A huge number of works were performed by the artist throughout his life. Their subjects included humor, and poetic beauty, and gloomy grandeur, but they also had in common - every work by Gustave Dore became a masterpiece. It was the highest degree of engraving art.

The exhibition will stay in Bryansk until December 17.
