Analysis and summary of the poem S.A. Yesenina "Pugachev"

In his poem "Pugachev," S. Yesenin makes an attempt to understand the essence of the revolutionary element that raged in the 20th century. The work is divided into 8 passages.

Excerpt 1-3. The idea of rebellion.

The main character is a peasant, dreaming of his will, Emelyan Pugachev. He admires the homeland and its nature, it is important for him that a simple person has the opportunity to earn honestly by working on his land. “How does our wise man live here?” He asks the Cossack guard and is indignant when he learns that by decree of Catherine II all the riches were given to the nobles, and ordinary peasants suffer under their unjust oppression. “Is there really no one to pull out the knives?” He exclaims anger, and the watchman admits that the people are ready to rebel, but they need a leader, “the one who will throw the stone first”. That would be Peter III. This thought captures the hero, he goes to the Kalmyks and urges them to desert from the Russian army. Upon learning about this, Ataman Kirpichnikov joins him.

Excerpt 4-6. Gathering troops.

In this passage, the Flapper monologue is especially important. He doesn’t care that Pugachev pretends to be Peter III, he longs to meet him. The people love not for titles, but for courage and dare.

Ataman Zarubin, another Pugachev supporter, lures more and more people, everyone surrenders without a fight.

Excerpt 7-8. Defeat.

After the first battles lost, quarrels begin among the associates of the rebels. Cottage cheese and Kryamin persuade the rest to hand over Pugachev to the troops of Catherine.

These two passages describe the last days of the Pugachev army. The leader is not ready to admit defeat. He shouts three times, "You are crazy!" Who told you that we are destroyed? ” He wants to believe in the possibility of salvation, he is ready to flee to Asia, which he sees as the land of true freedom. But along with his death, everyone else was killed, the rebellion was crushed.

Although the poem is political in nature, Yesenin saturates the text with epithets and metaphors, he perceives all events as a true poet. All actions unfold against the backdrop of dreary endless steppes, sad trees along endless roads. Melancholy Russian sadness emanates from every line, loners do not survive in such Russia, therefore the death of the protagonist carries with it a general defeat. A summary of the poem "Pugachev" Yesenin is not able to convey the gamut of feelings and emotions that can deliver the reading of the whole work.
