The rarest books of Russia will be sold at auction

MOSCOW. Rare works of Russian literature are exhibited at the auction on November 20 and 21 in the "House of Antique Books on Nikitsky". Books from princely, imperial and count collections are more than 1 thousand lots in total, among which there are unique and extremely rare editions. Some books contain comments, signatures and notes of eminent owners - Emperors Nicholas I, Nicholas II, Alexander III, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna, Grand Dukes Sergei Alexandrovich, Mikhail Nikolaevich, Nikolai Mikhailovich, Nikolai Nikolaevich, Prince Vorontsov, Count Sheremetyev and other no less eminent historical figures.

In addition to rare art publications, Old Russian literature put up for auction is of particular interest to collectors. So, the “New Testament with the Psalter” of 1580, published by the first printer Ivan Fedorov (the cost of the book starts from 180 thousand US dollars) and the “Ostrog Bible” of 1581, published by him (start from 80 thousand dollars) are put up for auction. Also at auction are the “Teaching Gospel” of 1788, published in only 8 copies, and the “Primer” in 1885 - according to the claims of historians, this book was released in only 5 copies. Other not less valuable books from the section of the Peter Book were put up for auction - “The memorial was given to the English court in 1719 by order of His Tsar’s Majesty”, “The book charter of the sea about everything related to good governance”, “The story about the orders or ranks of military men more cavalry "and others.
