Odessa will host the first international literary festival

ODESSA. From October 1 to October 4, the 1st International Literary Festival (MLO) will be held within the walls of the Odessa Literary Museum. The purpose of the event is to help strengthen Odessa’s ties with other European and world cultural metropolises, as well as emphasize the cultural influence and multiculturalism of Odessa.

These goals are reflected in the program of the festival, which focuses not only on the Black Sea region in general and Eastern European topics in particular, but also, as well as the famous literary festivals of Ulrich Schreiber and Hans Ruprecht in Berlin and Switzerland, which will be truly international.

As part of this program, the organizers have planned performances by writers from Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Romania, Georgia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, the USA, Canada, Switzerland, India, Norway and Mexico. The readings will be held in two languages: the works of foreign writers will be read in the original language with a Russian translation. International discussions will also be accompanied by consecutive or simultaneous interpretation.

The festival organizers said that they will seek to integrate MLO into the already existing prestigious literary communities of the region, including festivals in Chernivtsi, Lviv, Iasi (Romania) and the Kiev Book Arsenal. The program of the event, as well as the composition of the jury of the festival will be known at the end of July at an official press conference.
