At the opening of the Tchaikovsky festival in Klin, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov sounded

WEDGE. The opening of the II International Tchaikovsky Music Festival.

The years spent in Klin and its environs near Moscow became for Tchaikovsky his “Boldinsky Autumn”. The Sixth Symphony, The Nutcracker, Third Piano Concert, Iolanta, Queen of Spades, Sleeping Beauty were created in these places in the last decade of life. Enjoying nature and solitude in Maydanov and Frolovsky, he fully realized that it was in the Russian village that he could easily breathe, think, and go on. Last year, the anniversary year for Peter Ilyich, the first festival was held at the Klin Memorial Museum with the participation of Riccardo Muti and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Valery Gergiev, the Sveshnikov Choir, Mikhail Pletnev. The opening of season II in the conditions of a crisis that does not give up positions allows us to hope that this tradition will be preserved in the future.

In 2016, the participation of Helikon-Opera, the Imperial Russian Ballet, the chamber orchestra MUSICA VIVA, the choir of the Moscow diocese was announced. The main anniversary of this year, the 125th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev, is not forgotten. At the opening of the festival, on June 13, it was his music that sounded - the symphonic tale "Peter and the Wolf." For its execution, a trooper landed in Klin, consisting of Yuri Bashmet and actor Konstantin Khabensky, who managed to engage an elegant public happy with this fact. The evening ended with Rachmaninov’s second concert performed by Denis Matsuev, who on this day found time to plant linden in the museum park. Prokofiev will be performed in the reserve again on June 16: soloists of the Helikon-Opera will perform the opera Love for Three Oranges. The rest of the days everything that happens at various festival venues will be devoted to the work of Pyotr Ilyich. Not only Eugene Onegin and Swan Lake will be held in the fresh air, but also a marathon in rhythmic gymnastics accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s music and master classes in painting the nutcrackers.
