The opening of the new season of the Philharmonic coincided with the anniversary of the capital of Buryatia, which turned 350 years old. Both events promised the arrival of famous guests and an interesting concert program. Expectations came true. On the first day of September, a young pianist Dmitry Masleev, winner of the Grand Prix of the 15th Tchaikovsky Competition, performed on the stage of the philharmonic in front of his fellow countrymen. A year ago, he defeated worthy rivals, having survived a grave loss - the death of his mother. These dramatic and joyful collisions formed the basis of the film "Competition", shown before the concert. At the opening of the season, the works of Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Prokofiev were sounded in the Philharmonic.

One of the central issues of the concert program in honor of the City Day was the joint performance of the famous Moscow Virtuosi collective and the 14-year-old singer and composer Ludub Ochirov. Blindness does not interfere with the development of his unique talent, the creation of piercing musical compositions in which you can hear echoes and a harmonious combination of different styles. His works are also readily performed by famous classical groups. At the Pizzicato Chamber Music Festival, held in the capital of Buryatia in April 2016, Ludub’s song “The Music is One” was performed by the Glinka string quartet. On September 3, the dream of a young musician came true, which he shared on June 1, receiving the Golden Ball award in the capital. Ludub Ochirov and the Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra presented to the public a new composition of the child prodigy - Variations on the Theme of Paganini.
