The tradition of Verdi’s evenings at the Novosibirsk Philharmonic

NOVOSIBIRSK. The State Philharmonic Society performed the Verdi Requiem for four nights.

The performance of the Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi Requiem (Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi) for four evenings becomes a good tradition of the Novosibirsk State Philharmonic. It was this work that was chosen as a symbolic gift for the maestro on his 200th birthday. At the end of April 2013, the four-day marathon was attended by the Markell Voices collective, two choirs - Chamber and students of the conservatory, a symphony orchestra, soloists from Lithuania and Novosibirsk.

Verdi’s masterpiece Messa da Requiem sounded again at the Philharmonic, which celebrated its 80th birthday on the first day of the coming year. Behind the conductor’s console, like four years ago, stood Gintaras Rinkevičius, the artistic director of the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra. The Chamber Choir took part in the performance of a large-scale work again, performing after rebranding last year in the status of a choir chapel led by Igor Yudin. The international team of soloists from Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania and Russia soloed at concerts. Mezzo-soprano Jovita Vashkevichute - soloist of Lietuvos nacionalinis operos ir baleto teatras. Ukrainian tenor Valentin Dityk is a laureate and winner of several vocal competitions, soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine and the Latvian Opera. One of the leading soloists of the Novosibirsk Opera Nikolai Loskutkin is the wonderful Dosifey, Mephistopheles, Pimen, Don Bartolo. One of the most titled participants in the January evenings is soprano Tatyana Larina. Since 2010, successfully participates in international competitions, performs at the best opera stages in Germany and Austria.

An outstanding work created in 1874 is a tribute to people very significant for Verdi. Alessandro Manzoni, whom the composer called the great poet and glory of Italy, who died in 1868, Joakkino Rossini, his friend and librettist Francesco Maria Piave and his father Carlo Giuseppe Verdi. His concert fate was unusually successful. It causes the constant admiration of the public in different countries. Four nights in January 2017 were no exception.
