"Julius Caesar" from the actors of the Shakespeare Theater on the stage of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater

After a long break, the Russian audience will have an unforgettable meeting with the staff of the most famous theater in Europe - in Moscow from November 14 to 17 the Royal Shakespeare Theater will show its theater skills in the new performance “Julius Caesar”.

On Monday, November 12, at the Marriott Grand Hotel, a meeting of the theater team with journalists took place, which highlighted issues related to the current tour. During the conference, the possibility of organizing the next Shakespeare Theater tour in Russia was discussed, with performances in other Russian cities.

The main role in organizing a meeting with actors of the famous theater from the UK belongs to the Directorate of the International Chekhov Festival, and this idea was approved last year at a meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister David Cameron. To show the performances of the Shakespeare Theater, he presented his stage to the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater.

The performance "Julius Caesar", the first performance of which will take place tomorrow, on November 14, Moscow theater-goers are looking forward with great impatience. Tickets for all upcoming performances are already sold out. The premiere of "Julius Caesar" took place in May of this year, he was highly praised by the British public. The theater showed this performance in the summer at the Shakespeare Festival, and then many cities in the UK were able to see it.

For the director of the play, the new art director of the Royal Theater Gregory Doran, this performance became a very daring experiment. The plot, written in ancient times by the great playwright, was transferred to modern Africa, and the political events of the play are associated with events recently taking place in Libya. The eternal themes of Shakespeare’s works are relevant at all times - theater actors say.
