The tenth festival in memory of Evgeny Evstigneev opened in Nizhny Novgorod

The theater of Nizhny Novgorod, the first day of the week, October 29th, was a holiday. The opening ceremony of the 10th anniversary theater festival named after Yevgeny Evstigneev took place at the Comedy Theater. As usual, the beginning of the festival is timed to the birthday of the great actor.

This festival is unusual in everything, such events do not exist in any Russian city. Even the history of its appearance is unique. The emergence of a festival of such a huge scale was not an indication “from above”, but was a manifestation of the civil initiative of people who are not indifferent to art. The constituent committee for the festival included representatives of public organizations in Nizhny Novgorod. Substantial assistance in holding each of the festivals is provided by the city administration.

As in previous years, the opened festival will be held for five months. Its end will be marked by the presentation of prizes in various categories. There are many actors in the teams of the Nizhny Novgorod theaters who, after studying at the theater school, passed final exams to a committee chaired by E. Evstigneev. All of them did not disregard this important event in the theatrical life of the city.

The guest of honor at the opening of the festival was a graduate of the Nizhny Novgorod Theater School, People’s Artist A. Pankratov-Cherny, who constantly comes to the ceremony and always takes part in the theater skit, which is part of the festive opening program. The kapustnik was created by the forces of college students and laureates of past festivals.

Theatricals during the festival will see many original performances included in the festival program and the opening of new acting talents.
