Problems of English housewives on the stage of the Novosibirsk Globus Theater

NOVOSIBIRSK. The chief director of the Novosibirsk Globus Theater, Alexey Kriklivy, decided to please the theater audience with a touching story, pierced by bright humor. The theater hosted the premiere of the play “Girls from the Calendar,” based on a play written by contemporary English playwright Tim Firth.

Tim Firth wrote this play, based on an incredible, but real-life story. Immediately after the play was ready, at the end of 2003, a film was released based on its motives, which gathered a huge number of viewers, and since 2009, theater producers took up the play.

The play begins with scenes in which the life of well-known women housewives is monotonous and respectable. The routine of each day is familiar and measured - meetings of the Women’s Institute with constant discussions of new baking recipes, gymnastics. A bit of creative work - women are preparing for the release of the traditional annual calendar, which is illustrated with photographs of local attractions.

The usual rhythm of life changes dramatically after the appearance of a slightly extravagant idea in women - instead of the usual photographs of "wonders of the world" of local significance, put your portraits on the annual calendar. This idea brings unexpected results - women are interested in the press, citizens. Thanks to the popularity that came to them, women will be able to bring many benefits to the local hospital.

In the course of the play, each heroine talks about her fate - someone will do it seriously, and someone will slightly joke with himself. This kind and bright story, told in the play, that the taste for life should not be lost under any circumstances, no matter how it happened.
