Theater of Nations unveils original Shakespeare play

MOSCOW. The premiere of the play staged by the Golden Mask laureate, director of the novel Theodore, held on November 1, the Theater of Nations continued the Shakespearean cycle, which the theater has been working on for several years. Viewers saw the original directorial version of Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew.

Fans of the theater, long before the premiere, enlisted the performance in a number of theatrical events of the year. Although the name and content of the play are well known to all lovers of Shakespearean comedies, there were no tickets at the box office long before the premiere. Theaters are well aware that any surprises can await them at the Theater of Nations.

There were enough surprises. Firstly, the new production has become a theater in the theater - they tame the obstinate bride at a military base. The fact is that according to the plot of the play staged by the writer Dmitry Bykov, the famous comedy is staged by the military, and the great playwright himself is their assistant. New characters in the play also appeared thanks to Dmitry Bykov. The staging author also made a new translation of Shakespeare’s text.

According to the director, not one of the famous translations of this play could completely reflect either its essence or irony. In the original English text there is a constant play of characters in words, and the feeling of playing in this play is very important for her understanding. The story of the taming of a disobedient woman by a man will look ridiculous only with the presentation of all the events of the play in a playful way.

The main character was brilliantly played by actress Chulpan Khamatova. Her creative luggage already has several Shakespearean roles. Now the obstinate Katarina was added to them. In the role of Petruccio - a young actor Rustam Akhmadeev. The performance was decorated by the wonderful actress Olga Volkova.
