The film festival "Salt of the Earth" began in Samara

SAMARA. The official opening of the VII All-Russian festival of documentaries "Salt of the Earth" took place on September 16 in Samara. This year, 170 applications for participation in the festival were received, the jury selected 37 works that will participate in five categories - “Russian Cathedral”, “Kamo Gryadeshi?..”, “Here and Now”, “Honor Your Father” and your mother ”and“ Times do not choose. ”

“The festival’s activities are aimed at preserving the unified spiritual and cultural-historical space of Russia, at establishing spiritual guidelines. The festival’s organizers aim at supporting, encouraging and uniting documentary filmmakers whose films are imbued with love for Russia, for their people, ”the press release said.

According to one of the jury members, VGIK professor and Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Galina Prozhiko, a modern documentary is not only a reflection of reality, but also an incentive for people to change, move along their spiritual path. In turn, Nikolai Volkov, another member of the jury and part-time professor, head of the camera department of the St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television, claims that this documentary film conveys the state of mind of its creator. At the same time, according to the general opinion of the filmmakers - members of the jury of the festival, modern documentaries reflect living reality and are opposed to television, in which "life is often obscured by the figure of an interpreter journalist."

The organizer of the All-Russian festival of documentaries “The Salt of the Earth” is the Volga Historical and Cultural Foundation JVF, screenings are sponsored by the Government of the Samara Region from September 16 to 20, 2014.
