The film festival "World of Knowledge" will begin on October 20

ST. PETERSBURG. From October 20 to 24, the 9th International Festival of Popular Science and Educational Films “World of Knowledge” will be held in St. Petersburg. The competition program of the film festival is attended by 22 films from different countries - Russia, Holland, USA, China, Spain, France, Canada and New Zealand. The opening ceremony of the festival will be marked by the premiere screening of Sergei Tsikhanovich’s film “Lake in the Sea”, which tells of a resourceful black and white duck.

The festival organizers noted that the themes of the films are very diverse. So, for example, the film of the American director Mark Levinson “Hadron Fever” tells about the creation of the Large Hadron Collider, which became the most expensive experiment in the history of the planet. A joint Dutch-Chinese project by Bregtier van der Haack “DNA: Dreams of the Future” offers viewers a little dig into the DNA and fix it a little with their own children.

Also within the framework of the film festival, a conference will be held dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of the famous director, popular science cinema Alexander Zguridi. The well-known television project "In the Animal World" was conceived and implemented by him in 1968. Then the wildlife world first entered the houses and made millions of spectators with delight and with complete safety observe the life of animals in their natural environment. The guests of honor at this conference will be Nikolai Drozdov, host of the Animal World program, and Alexander Sokurov, a student of Alexander Zguridi.
