Artists of the Polar Theater from Norilsk arrived on tour in Omsk

OMSK. For the first time, Omsk theater-goers will get acquainted with the work of the Drama Theater named after Mayakovsky, who arrived on tour from Norilsk. This theater, which appeared on the Taimyr Peninsula at the time when the Stalinist camps were located there, is called the most northern not only in Russia but also in the world.

The Norilsk Theater, which is preparing to celebrate its seventy-fifth anniversary next year, is known for the fact that in his team the creative path of the famous Hamlet, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, began. The Norilsk drama became the place where the artists who served the exile to the Arctic worked. Their names are well known to lovers of theatrical art - Evdokia Urusova, Georgy Zhzhenov.

Arriving in Omsk, the artists of the Polar Theater went to honor the memory of their former colleague, Yuri Greben. In recent years, the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation lived in Omsk and worked at the Galerka Theater. A year ago, Yuri Grigoryevich passed away. His colleagues attended the opening of a plaque installed on the house where the artist lived.

Omsk theater-goers even before the start of the tour bought up most of the tickets for the performances of the polar theater. Although the Norilsk drama has never been to Omsk before, many cities connect these cities. Many of the artists of the Omsk theaters previously worked in Norilsk, but Anna Babanova, the main director of the Polar Theater, previously worked in the Omsk drama.

The first touring performance shown in Omsk was the recent premiere of the theater from Norilsk - “Benefit of Gennady Neschastlivtsev”. The play was based on the famous comedy by A. Ostrovsky “Forest”. In total, the artists of the polar Mayakovka brought seven performances to Omsk. Until July 14, Omsk Drama provided guests with both of its scenes - the main and chamber. For touring, the premieres of two seasons were selected. It was not possible to bring only the last - “Hamlet”.
